Aveline and I are back from our trip to the farm. It was definitely too short of a trip, as we didn't have much time to do all the things we wanted to. One of the highlights of our trip was helping my father feed some of their livestock. He used to own a herd of dairy cows that they milked, but they closed that chapter of their lives a few years ago. Now they focus more on vegetables and flowers than animals. During the year, they still raise dairy steers and horses. In the fall, they welcome many different animals to populate the petting zoo for the pumpkin patch weekends. During that time, chores expand to include feeding piglets, a donkey, sheep, goats and a baby calf. Aveline enjoyed meeting these new "exotic" animals.
Grandpa did set her on the back of a few horses, at which she squealed with delight. I missed those photos because I was panicking. I forgot how big horses can be! Aveline showed no fear in regards to the beasts' size. Note that Grandpa held her by her shorts to keep her from jumping into the pen.

I love visiting the farms. I use to get my milk from a farm that had Jersey cows (the brown ones) and they often would have the calves. I am not much of a cow person, but I love the jersey calves.
