Double Doctor Duty

I am glad Dan is back amongst the day dwellers. I don't know how single mothers stay sane.

We did venture to the pediatrician's office for well baby check-ups. We were lucky enough to see our favorite pediatrician, Dr. Hein. Both Aveline and Scarlett were offered up for inspection at this visit.

Dan wrangled Aveline while I handled Scarlett. Both girls are doing well and growing strong. Aveline is up to 25 lbs 6 oz and 31.5 inches, both just a smidge above average for her age. Scarlett weighed in at 10 lbs 13 oz and stretched to 21.5 inches. We think some mismeasurement happened either at the hospital or in the doctor's office, because we know she is much longer than she was when she was born. These were also above average for her age.

Aveline entertained Dr. Hein with her dancing (think Jennifer Beals in Flashdance) and her growing vocabulary. He agreed that our toddler was quite a character and was superior in her milestone development. He gave us some war strategies for discipline and behavior control. He finished Aveline's portion with guidelines for the next six months, mostly about potty training and future milestones to watch for.

Scarlett checked out well, too. We got prescriptions for her thrush and eye goopies. He also reminded us of what should happen before her visit in November.

The visit ended with a shot for each, Hep B booster for Scarlett and a flu shot for Aveline. We were smart enough to give Aveline's shot first. Both girls cried for a brief moment, but then drowned their sorrows in a warm milk.

Overall, it was a good visit. We go back in a month for Scarlett, the dreaded two month shot fest. Aveline escapes poking until April at her two year visit.
