Fighting a Cold

You will have to forgive me for this post. I know it will be a bit whiney and meandering. I assumed I was suffering from allergies. Afterall, I did spend two days on my parents' farm. I spent the entire day today locked up in the air conditioning. I was wrong. I still have whatever this is. I guess it is a cold.

Being a mommy while sick is 800 times more challenging. My head hurts, my ears itch, my throat burns. I am hot and sweaty and tired. My patience has evaporated along with my motivation. I just want to lay on the couch, sipping orange juice while drifting mindlessly between game shows and a benadryl induced coma. That is how I usually handled a cold. Not anymore. Welcome to mommyhood. Please check all of your fun coping skills at the door.

Since I am still breastfeeding, I am not advised to take any type of cold or allergy medicine. So I have to suffer through it. Thank goodness Aveline has been cooperative. She took a few good naps and I put her to bed fully awake and I haven't heard a peep out of her yet. WOW. Small miracles.

I am planning to go make some chicken noodle soup and hit the hay as soon as Dan gets up. I will write more about our long weekend tomorrow. It was very exciting! Full of county fairs, vegetables, future prom dates, 85th birthdays and new babies.

Until tomorrow.

I hope you feel better soon. It always happens to me. Whenever a kid gets sick I get it too.
