Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere!!!

I grew up on a moderate sized farm nestled away from major cities. My family used to run a dairy, but my father sold the cows a few years back. Once he had all of his daughter's through college, he decided to retire. Now, to some people, retirement means travel, golf, fishing,-basically anything that is not work. After the cows were gone, dad planted acres of pumpkins, vegetables and sweet corn and opened his farm to the public. That is his idea of fun. Every year during the fall, thousands of people descend on our farm to pick pumpkins, pet animals, meander through the corn maze and just take in the country/harvest/rural sort of life. We give away ice cream and popcorn, sell homemade foodstuffs, handmade crafts and pumpkins. Lots and lots of pumpkins. Everything from the tiny Jack-be Littles that fit in the palm of your hand, to the monster Orange Goblins that require two people to retrieve it from the patch.

I stopped by one of the pumpkin fields to see the crop that Dad had planted. Wow. I had never seen so many pumpkins in my life. The pictures don't do it justice.
