Second Trimester and the Used Balloon Theory

I don't know when the textbooks acknowledge the beginning of the second trimester, but I know it has to be coming up soon. My morning sickness is slowly (too slowly if you ask me) fading. I am now starting to get the blessed "hormone headaches" as I like to call them. They are doozies too! Tylenol doesn't always cut the mustard either. Supposedly the middle trimester is the "golden age" of pregnancy. I could agree. During my last pregnancy, I felt great during that time, with the exception of the headaches. Really, my whole pregnancy was rather comfortable. Even at the end. I have a feeling I'm not going to be so lucky with this one.

The biggest surprise so far (besides the shock of the pregnancy itself) is that I am already starting to show. Dan says that it is because I am like a used balloon: The first time a balloon is inflated, it gives way slowly. If you deflate that balloon and blow air into it once more, it will grow much easier. Nice theory. Doesn't help me squeeze into my jeans any better. I won't defile your eyes with pictures of my expanding mid-section. It really isn't pleasant.

We have our next doctor's appointment on Thursday. We get to hear the heartbeat for the first time during this visit! I will definitely update you with all of our stats.

I want to see belly pics, too!

I know how you feel - the morning sickness hung on for what seemed like forever with me. Hope it goes away soon.

Glad you're doing okay. I hate that used balloon thing. My balloon has never been the same.
