Our Trio's Last Outing

With the impending doom getting closer and closer, Dan and I decided to take Aveline out for some fun. We visited the Columbus Zoo with our close friend Laura and her twins.
Aveline was too young to appreciate most of the displays like we did. And most of the animals were too far away or too well camouflaged for her to see. Despite of these things, we found a few things that she loved. Laura, the veteran zoo visitor, guided us to the aquarium. This was a brilliant idea, as the tots could escape their rolling thrones and get as close as five inch thick glass would let them. Lots of different brightly colored fish swam by right before their eyes. Definitely the highlight of Aveline's day.

We hit most of the big points (Lions, Tigers, Kangaroos, Manatees, etc.) before it started to rain. We said buh-bye to the animals and trekked to Laura's home for the kids to play. Dan and Joe got to watch the trio while Laura and I went to dinner with some girlfriends. We returned much later that evening, relieved to find her house still intact and all of the kiddos sound asleep. Dan and I loaded the van, and headed back home.

This was sort of the last hurrah for our family of three. My doctor advised against travel for the rest of my pregnancy, so I will be limited to short trips to the grocery. This trip helps to punctuate our life as a threesome. Now we will start to transition into our quartet. The next few weeks will be soley dedicated to finishing touches for the baby and special time for Aveline.

Looks like fun! I'm glad to see that Aveline is getting good use out of her b-day presents :) She looks really cute in them (of course I'm biased!). I am praying for you as you anticipate the end of this pregnancy and the arrival of a new baby. How exciting and tiring at the same time.
Aveline looks like she is growing and filling out since we saw her last month.

Glad you had a good time at the Zoo. I was at the Cols. Zoo yesterday (Friday). It just keeps getting bigger every time I go there.
