A Star is Born

Aveline, being 20 months old, has finally started chipping in on her living expenses.

A few months ago, we were contacted by someone producing a holiday special on TLC that would highlight the antics of people around the holidays. They found our video of Aveline opening Christmas presents on YouTube, and promised us $400 if they used the clip. I consulted with Dan, and after examining the paper work, decided to go ahead and give them permission. We sent them a hard copy along with the various release forms in mid-October. Having heard nothing about it since, we assumed they decided against using our clip.

Then we got a check in the mail for $400 on Tuesday. They must have used our clip.

We are searching TLC, but realize that since the show was geared for the holidays, it will probably not be rerun until next year.

So, keep your eyes peeled for our firstborn monkey ripping open presents on TLC.

A quick side note: When I uploaded the Christmas videos last year, I had only wanted to upload one clip. Fortunately, I uploaded two wrong videos before finally getting my intended video online. The clip that was used was one of the mistakes. It pays to screw up!

This is the clip that helped fix the transmission on our car!

Eligible to Continue

So karma must have felt guilty for dumping on me this week and decided to throw me a small bone. I just got an email from the company with which I had my telephone interview this week and they have deemed me "Eligible to be considered for the next phase of the hiring process." It sounds like interview purgatory to me, since I haven't necessarily been invited to the next phase yet. If I am chosen from the pool of candidates (the image of someone manipulating a toy crane at the arcade, snatching job seekers from a pile comes to mind) I will get to have a face to face interview. If that should happen, I will need to find a new suit, since I am still hauling a few souvenir pounds from my recent pregnancy. Shopping anxiety can kick in....NOW. Nothing stresses a new mom out more than having to face pre-pregnancy clothes. I may develop an ulcer since I haven't worn a business suit since before I was married. That's like three or four different layers of fat ago. Lane Bryant, here I come.

Acci-Dental Foolishness

Well, my long overdue trip to the dentist yielded good news, bad news and worse news. The good news was that I had two very minor cavities that would need to be filled. The bad news was that a former dentist of mine incorrectly advised me that I had no wisdom teeth, like my father. The worse news is that my newly discovered third molars are impacted and will need to be removed. The bubbly, young Indian woman (she so reminded me of Kelly on The Office) recommended I visit an oral surgeon to have them extracted soon. I asked her how soon, and she mentioned that the late 90's would have been the perfect time. I guess the older you get, the more the teeth are set in bone, and the more excruciating the recovery.

Yay.

This is karma paying my ass back for every smug, glib remark I offered each time some poor person would share the imminent doom of their wisdom teeth. I would boast of my genetic superiority when it came to those pesky pearls, and laugh. Karma has decided to cash in my dental foolishness for a painful surgery and woeful recovery.

I shall be more careful when tempting fate.

After that bombshell landed, as some of you may recall, I had a job interview. Needless to say, I didn't give my best performance. This really bothers me, since I need to do my best when it counts. Now, I may be judging my answers too harshly, and in the eyes of the lovely lady who interviewed me, I may be just what they need. I really doubt it though. I guess I will find out in the next week or so what my fate is when it comes to this position.
