Pumpkin Slingshot

We spent this last weekend at my parents' farm in north central Ohio, where they host a pick-your-own pumpkin patch and fall festival during the month of October each fall. I will be using the weekend as post fodder for the next few days, as my regular life is painfully boring and this was the most exciting thing I have done since Scarlett was born. (Before the weekend, a trip to the grocery store was atop my list!)

Today, per my husband's request, I am going to highlight the newest attraction at the farm, a giant pumpkin slingshot. My father has wanted to add something to the pumpkin patch that would particularly entertain the men who visit the farm. This certainly does it. If I needed to find my spouse this weekend, he usually was within a hundred yards of the slinger.

Dan carried more interest since he had aided my father in finding some of the materials needed to build the slingshot.

I have to say, it is much harder than it looks. I tried my hand at it, and it took all I had to even pull the band back to its optimal release point. To add even more intrigue, a wagon and a few targets are placed in a pasture field nearby. Lucky shots are rewarded with free pumpkins.

I have been reading about the family event at the farm on your friends and Laura's blog. Seems like a good time was had by all.

Maybe next year we'll be around for pumpkin chucking.

That's awesome. My family often goes to the Circleville Pumpkin Show around this time of year. I wish they had a pumpkin slingshot... that is awesome!
